Hello, I'm Becky 👋

The person behind Becky’s Hired Help, a small independent business providing household help, pet care and creative services in and around Hatton, Derbyshire.

I started Becky’s Hired Help in 2022 after years of working in cleaning, conservation, hospitality and creative work. I love the variety of what I do, but there's one thing that connects all of those experiences: I genuinely enjoy looking after things and making life a little easier for other people.

Every home, pet and person is different, so I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I work closely with my clients to understand what they actually need, whether that's keeping on top of a busy household, providing thoughtful care for their pets, or creating something personal and meaningful through my artwork.

A little about my experience

I've worked cleaning in one form or another since 2009, including private homes, schools, cafés, offices, public spaces and historic buildings. I also spent several years working for the National Trust, where I worked in both housekeeping and conservation.

That experience taught me that good cleaning isn't simply about making somewhere look tidy. It's about noticing the little things, understanding how a space is used and taking care with the things within it. I've worked with specialist equipment and delicate historic interiors, as well as carrying out annual deep cleans and preventative conservation work.

Today, I bring that same attention to detail into the homes I look after. I manage my own diary and work directly with my clients, providing regular and occasional help tailored to their individual homes and routines.

Looking after pets too

Animals have always been an important part of my life, and pet care has become a natural part of my business.

Alongside caring for pets in clients' homes, I've completed training in pet first aid, canine first aid, dog care and grooming, and have gained practical experience in a boarding kennel and through home dog boarding training. My training has also included information about caring for cats and small animals.

I understand that every animal has their own personality, routine and needs. Whether I'm taking a dog for a walk, visiting a cat or caring for pets while their owners are away, I aim to provide calm, thoughtful care while keeping to the routines their owners have established.

And then there's the creative side...

Before focusing on Becky’s Hired Help, I also ran my own creative business for several years, producing whimsical artwork, prints and other products, as well as taking on custom commissions.

I have a Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art & Design and have always loved making things. I'm now bringing that creative experience back into my business through the Creative Studio, where I create pet portraits, memorial artwork and other bespoke illustrations.

Why I keep things small

I deliberately run Becky’s Hired Help as a small, personal business.

When you invite someone into your home or ask them to care for your pets, I think it's important to know who you're dealing with. I want my clients to have a familiar face they can get to know and trust, rather than a different person turning up every time.

I take pride in being reliable, approachable and attentive to the individual needs of the people, homes and animals I work with.

Whether you need a helping hand around the house, someone to care for your pets, or a little bit of creativity, I'd love to hear from you.
